I was born in Anaheim, California back when giants walked the earth and was raised mostly in nearby Long Beach area, where I still make my home. Before resettling in Long Beach, I spent several years living in Hawai’i, which I used as a jumping-off point for extended travels to various South Pacific islands, Australia, and later Indonesia. Once back in California, I obtained undergraduate and graduate degrees in anthropology. Then I began concentrating seriously on writing.
Heaping Stones, my first novel, was published in 2005. Edgewater: Poems 1992-2209 came out in 2012. Between these publications I became very dissatisfied with my work and began a several-year reevaluating and retooling of my writing, in search of a boarder more social vision. The results thus far are the books of the Backwaters Legendarium. Backwaters of Beauty is its first installment. Mother Earth and Sunshine Seas, the second and third volumes, are scheduled for publication.
These days I make my money teaching college and (sometimes) thru my writing. When I’m not working there’s a good chance I can be found wandering the Greek Islands, where I’m convinced the meaning of life resides …
