Suddenly back to the grind, teaching, commuting–bah! Most people spend the bulk of their lives doing things that are secondary to what they consider to be their true work–they spend their precious time living lives that  aren’t theirs! I often feel like one of these people (though I know I have it better than most). Art must wait. Love, fun, dreams … The novel I’m writing that only a few days ago was enthralling me I’ve now placed to one side, where I can look at it longingly but not engage with it, where I can continually notice it and feel sad, cheated. Again, I must make time for it, something more than stolen moments–I need blocks of freedom …
